Smoked Baked Potatoes

Creamy smoked baked potatoes loaded with your favorite baked potato toppings! You'll end up with smoked potatoes that taste better than your favorite BBQ joint!

  • Smoker or Charcoal Grill

Ingredients

  • 4 russet potatoes (*Note 1)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt, or to taste
  • 1 tsp black pepper, or to taste

TOPPINGS

  • Optional topping ideas: butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon, chives, parsley, or chili.

Instructions

  • Pre-heat the smoker to 225°F. If utilizing a manual smoker, aim to keep the temperature between 225° - 250°F.
  • Scrub the potatoes and dry with a paper towel. Pierce the potatoes allover with a fork. Evenly coat with olive oil followed by the salt and pepper.
  • Optional: Wrap each potato with aluminum foil, if utilizing. Make sure to leave a bit of space at the top and ends after wrapping for the steam from the potatoes to escape.
  • Transfer the potatoes to the grill, close the lid, and smoke for approximately 2 hours, or until the internal temperature is between 205° - 211° F.
  • Remove from the grill and carefully unwrap the foil, if utilizing. Serve immediately with your favorite potato toppings!

Notes

Note 1 - You an also use red potatoes or sweet potatoes, but watch the cook time as it may differ from russet potatoes.
